The Green Bay Packers face the New Orleans Saints on the Sunday Night Football at 8:30 PM ET at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, New Orleans, LA.
After a slow start into the season with 1-2 record, the Green Bay Packers garnered four consecutive games to be considered contenders again in the NFL.
Part of the success of the Packers was the total domination of quarterback Aaron Rodgers who posted 977 yards and 13 touchdowns with no interceptions in the winning streak. He also displayed a highly acclaimed performance with 154.5 passer rating last week as they beat the Panthers 38-17.
Jordy Nelson has been the favorite target of Rodgers. Nelson already has 712 receiving yards, second in the NFL. Nelson can be aggressive in his routes as Rodgers finds him with accuracy. Moreover, wide receiver Randall Cobb is part of the high-powered offense of the Packers.
The Packers may have an offensive night because they face the Saints with lackluster passing offense, yielding 270.5 yards per game.
Offensively, Green Bay averages 226.7 yards in passing and 98.7 in rushing. Defensively, Green Bay yields 214.9 in passing and 147.9 in rushing.
The New Orleans Saints have to shake themselves to win this game, after losing to Detroit by giving up two touchdowns in the final 3:38.
Brees threw for 342 yards in 28 of 45 passes and two touchdowns but he threw an interception that altered the outcome of the game in favor of Detroit.
“Just know that when you got Aaron Rodgers on the other side of the ball, and that offense and the way that they execute, the way that they score points, it just makes you feel like you have to be that much more precise and execute that much better,” said Brees.
Offensively, New Orleans averages 314 yards per game in passing, 2nd in the NFL, and 123 in rushing. Defensively, New Orleans yields 270.5 in passing and 103.2 in rushing.
A shootout between Rodgers and Brees is expected to happen in this match.
