Quarterback Tom Brady has another chance to improve his playoff record as the New England Patriots will host the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Divisional Playoff on Saturday, kick off time at 4:35 PM ET, at Gillette Stadium.
Brady holds the NFL record for the most playoff wins with 18. He also started for the most playoff games with 26. Brady quietly brought the New England Patriots into the playoff by playing meticulously in the recent games. With his arsenals better than last season because of the presence of Rob Gronkowski, Brady will most likely have a better chance of advancing into another Super Bowl appearance.
With all the attention on Brady, the Baltimore Ravens have their own quarterback which has the best playoff record on the road, making him the best quarterback ever quarterback on the road in the playoff. Flacco displayed his best two years ago by winning in the playoffs on the road and the Super Bowl. Flacco currently has seven wins in the playoff including the win over Steelers last week.
Brady clearly is searching for his fourth Super Bowl title but it will start at his homefield against the Ravens, whose defense is capable of containing him. Brady didn’t have success in the past against the Ravens. In the last game Brady played the Ravens defense, the Ravens outlasted New England 28-13 in 2012. Brady completed 53.7 of his passes for 320 yards with one touchdown against two interceptions. He was clobbered by the pass rush defense of Baltimore.
Meanwhile, Flacco completed 58.3 percent of his passes for 240 yards and three touchdowns against no interceptions. Flacco and the Ravens went on to win the Super Bowl against the San Francisco 49ers.
Brady is not disturbed about the losses to the Ravens in the playoff by saying, “”We’ve put ourselves in a good position. We’ve just got to take advantage of it.”
Offensively this season, New England is averaging 257.6 yards in passing and 107.9 in rushing. In the defense, the New England is better by giving up 239.8 in passing and 104.3 in rushing.
Baltimore’s defense has shown that it can play against the best offenses. Baltimore limited the Steelers to only 17 points last week. Offensively, Baltimore is averaging 238.7 yards in passing and 126.2 in rushing. Defensively, the Ravens are giving up 248.7 in passing and 88.2 in rushing (4th in the NFL).
