The Arizona Cardinals take on the St Louis Rams on Thursday Night Football on December 11, 2014 at 8:25 PM ET.
For Arizona, this is a crucial match to stay on top of the NFC South as well as the entire NFC. At 10-3, Arizona has stormed back after missing the playoff last season with a 10-6 record. With several teams juggling for playoff position, the Cardinals cannot afford to lose.
After this game, the Cardinals will have to play Seattle on December 21 and San Francisco on December 28. This is a situation in which the Cardinals will have to seize as they are in a stretch of facing their NFC South rivals.
The Cardinals suffered a terrible blow when ace quarterback Carson Palmer was done of the season because of knee injury. Drew Stanton came as a replacement and the Cards are standing firm on top with a 2-2 record.
Cardinals coach Bruce Arians, from the start, believed that they are a Super Bowl team even without Palmer. However, the Cardinals were combined for only 21 points in back-to-back defeates on the road against Atlanta and Seattle, this means that they need more of Stanton.
Stanton completed 15 of 30 passes for 239 yards and one touchdown to lead his team in a 17-14 victory over Kansas City. Stanton played with poise without turning the ball over.
Kerwynn Williams rushed for 100 yards in 19 attempts as the offense of the Cardinals survived the visiting Chiefs.
The Cardinals will rely on the defensive end to deny the St Louis Rams in winning this match. While the Rams are at the bottom of the division, they are very dangerous.
The Rams defense dominated Washington 24-0 last week. Shaun Hill completed 16 of 22 passes for 213 yards and two touchdowns to keep the Rams rolling. For the Rams, making into the playoff is out of the spectrum, but to shut down the Cardinals would be historic.
