The Oklahoma Sooners will face off the Clemson Tigers at the Russell Athletic Bowl in December 29, 5:30 P.M. ET at Florida Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida.
Oklahoma started strong this season winning its first four games. The Sooners came from an overtime defeat against rival Oklahoma State in its season finale 38-35. Oklahoma has also closed game defeats against TCU, 37-33, and Kansas State, 31-30.
Offensively, Oklahoma Sooners average 211.9 in passing and 268.6 in rushing. Samaje Perine, the freshman running back, led the offense for the Sooners with a total of 1579 yards and 21 touchdowns in rushing. Junior wide receiver Sterling Shepard finished the season with 957 yards and five touchdowns in receiving. Defensively, Oklahoma Sooners yield 272.7 yards in passing and 109.6 in rushing. Line backer Eric Striker will be the key in the defense of Oklahoma.
Clemson was on the roll with a two game winning streak. The Tigers crushed the Georgia State, 28-0, and defeated South Carolina, 35-17, in its season finale. Freshmen Deshaun Watson and Artavis Scott completed a two touchdown pass to helped Clemson beat South Carolina. Clemson nearly snatched a win over number one seed Florida State but came up short with a 23-17 overtime loss.
Offensively, Clemson Tiger averages 257.1 in passing and 153.0 in rushing. Watson is the player to watch, he finished this season with a total of 1466 yards and 14 touchdowns in passing. Freshman running back Wayne Gallman was coming off his best game against South Carolina. Gallman had a total of 714 yards and four touchdowns in rushing. Defensively, Clemson Tigers yield 161.9 yards in passing and 97.7 in rushing. Clemson defense is one of the best in the nation. Vic Beasley and Grady Jarrett will anchor the defense of Clemson.
