Monday Night Football Scores and highlights: Miami Dolphins vs New York Jets showdown

The Miami Dolphins take on the New York Jets on Monday Night football at the Metlife Stadium, E. Rutherford, N.J. at 8:30 PM ET.

The Dolphins are chasing for a playoff berth through the wild-card and they can eventually increase their chances in a win over the Jets in tonight’s showdown.

Miami (6-5) has to shake itself from losing close games. 0-3 in games decided by four or fewer points, the Dolphins need to be on top at crunchtimes. Miami suffered a disappointing loss to the Broncos, 39-36, in which they blew up an 11-point fourth quarter advantage.

”We have to find a way to win some of those games,” coach Joe Philbin said. “We are going to be in some more of those games. That’s just the way the NFL typically is.”

Offensively, Miami averages 220.6 yards in passing and 124.5 in passing. Defensively, Miami yields 211.7 in passing and 104.2 in rushing.

Ryan Tannehill completed 26 of 36 passes for 228 yards and three touchdowns against one interception. Tannehill couldn’t make those important passes in the fourth quarter against Denver.

The New York Jets have to keep playing in an early preparation for the next season. It’s about the decision of utilizing Michael Vick or Geno Smith.

Smith hasn’t started since Oct. 26 in a 43-23 loss to Buffalo. He was benched after throwing interceptions on three consecutive possessions.

Offensively, New York averages 173.7 in passing (last in the NFL) and 136.5. Defensively, New York yields 238.6 in passing and 86.2 in rushing.
