The Buffalo Bills take on the Miami Dolphins on Thursday Night Football scheduled on November 13, at 8:25 PM in what is considered to be a crucial match.
Both the Bills and Dolphins have 5-4 record and the winner of the Thursday Night Football would have a better chance of jumping into the playoffs. While the winner of the Thursday Night Football remains to be behind the New England Patriots, a wild-card berth is available.
Miami want to bounce back after losing Week 2 29-10 on the road. Ryan Tannehill completed 31 of 49 passes for 241 yards and a touchdown against an interception. Tannehill struggled in that game that he couldn’t deliver his passes at the right time.
Mike Wallace caught five times for 56 yards including one touchdown while Jarvis Landry added 49 yards in five receptions. Adding to the receiving end of the Dolphins were Brian Hartline and Charles clay with 36 yards and 31 respectively.
Tannehill has improved this season in terms of being sacked by the opponents. In 2013, he was sacked 55 times for an average of 3.6 while this season he has been sacked 20 times for 2.2 average. It is important to note the offensive line of the Dolphins has a better protection on the quarterback.
The Dolphins are rank 14th in yards per game and 11th in points per game. This is one of the reasons why the Dolphins have more wins than losses so far. Tannehill has become part of the running game of the Dolphins, averaging 45.4 yards in the last six games. He serves as part of the running back, helping Lamar Miller.
Tannehill completed 27 of 38 passes for 207 yards and one touchdown against one interception in a losing effort 16-20 over Detroit last Sunday. Tannehill rushed only two times for not gained yards at all. It was amazing how the running offense of the Dolphins were totally clobbered, producing only 50 yards.
While the Dolphins seek a victory, the Buffalo Bills want to bounce back after a disappointing 17-13 loss to Kansas City. They were leading 13-3 after three quarters but they allowed Kansas City to score 14 points in the fourth while they didn’t score at all.
Kyle Orton, who was not the starting quarterback in Week 2 against the Dolphins, completed 29 of 48 passes for 259 yards and a touchdown last Sunday. He found Bryce Brown six times for 65 yards and Chris Hogan for 57 yards and one touchdown in five receptions.
Part of the success of the Bills would be the leadership of Orton as the starting quarterback. However, the underrated defense fo the Bills must not be neglected in the conversation at all. Buffalo is yielding 320.7 yards per game, sixth in the NFL, and 20.2 points per game, 7th in the league. Bills are the leader in the NFL in sacks, with Marcell Dareus (10 sacks) and Jerry Hughes (7½ sacks). Adding to the defense with sacks are Mario Williams (7 sacks) and Kyle Williams(2½ sacks).
