The San Francisco 49ers want to make sure that they have still the sharpness in the NFC West as they face the St Louis Rams at the Levi’s Stadium, Santa Clara, CA on Sunday at 4:05 PM.
The 49ers have enough time to regroup as they came from a bye week after losing to the Broncos in Week 7. As the 49ers spent time contemplating about how they will approach the next games, star linebacker Patrick Willis could be part of the game.
Just recently, reports came out that the players were not of the same page with coach Jim Harbaugh. However, Harbaugh responded by saying, “You take things with a grain of salt, especially from people who don’t know you or have some other agenda that they may be serving. I take it with a grain of salt and go about doing our jobs.”
The 49ers were rolling in three consecutive wins, as they contained their opponents to an average of 18.3 points per game, but they allowed the Broncos with a 42-17 defeat. The 49ers gave up 318 yards and four touchdowns on Peyton Manning alone.
With Colling Kaepernick as the quarterback of the 49ers, they would always have the luxury to be effective and to win games. Kaepernick understands how to lead his team into victories, and this game might be the moment to get back into that offensive juggernaut.
Offensively, San Francisco averages 232.3 in passing and 125.1 in rushing. Defensively, San Francisco yields 221.1 in passing and 84.9 in rushing, fourth in the league.
St Louis (2-5) has continued to struggle in the offense, losing to Kansas City 34-7 on October 26. Quarterback Austin Davis completed 15 of 25 passes for 160 yards, one touchdown and an interception. Davis was sacked seven times.
Moreover, the rushing offense didn’t get enough contributions with only 32 yards from Tre Mason and 27 yards from Benny Cunningham. One of the ways for the Rams to beat the SF 49ers would be to play aggressive on the defense by forcing turnovers.
Offensively, St Louis averages 234.1 yards in passes and 102.3 in rushes. Defensively, St Louis yields 231.3 in passes and 144.3 in rushes.
