The Ohio State Buckeyes take on the Indiana Hoosiers in one of the most anticipated college football games on Saturday at 12:00 PM ET at the Ohio Stadium, Columbus, OH.
With the help from other teams, the Buckeyes have a possible chance for the College Football playoff after they were ranked No. 6 this week. Without a doubt, the Buckeyes are back in the chase for the national title. Though they don’t have control of their destiny, the Buckeyes hope that two of the teams ahead of them will slide down in the next three weeks.
The Buckeyes (9-1,6-0) play at home after two big road games. What the Buckeyes need to do is to win all the remaining games, including the Big Ten championship game, and wait for other teams to maintain to lose grip of their rankings.
Coach Urban Meyer was asked Monday about whether his Buckeyes are one of the top four teams in the country. He responded, “”Not right now, no. No, I don’t, because I don’t want to make ignorant comments. I just don’t know”
A win for Ohio State over Indiana (3-7, 6-0) would put them into the Big Ten Championship Game. In this game, the Buckeyes are heavily favored by six touchdowns.
Ohio State outplayed Minnesota, 31-24, last Saturday through the all-around game of J.T Barrett, who completed 15 of 25 passes for 200 yards, three touchdowns, and added 189 yards and a score in 17 attempts on the ground.
Barrett has been playing with such efficiency this season, except in that loss against Virginia Tech in Week 2. With a mobile quarterback like Barrett, the Buckeyes would love to be part of the first college football playoff.
Ezekiel Elliot rushed 18 times for 91 yards to help Ohio State in that important victory. Jalin Marshall had 95 yards in five receptions and a touchdown. While the Buckeyes rely on Barrett, Elliot and Marshall are needed to have a balanced-offensive attack.
Offensively, Ohio State averages 246.7 yards in passing and 263.1 in rushing. Defensively, Ohio State yields 189.4 in passing and 135.6 in rushing.
The Hoosiers suffered 45-23 defeat at Rutgers last Saturday, despite fo the 307 rushing yards of Tevin Coleman. Indiana could not contain the offense fo the Scarlet Knights, losing for six consecutive games.
Indiana had lost 18 in a row to Ohio State since 1988. It would not be a surprise if this game would end up in a lopsided way.
Offensively, Indiana averages 146.4 in passing and 265.3 in rushing. Defensively, Indiana yields 258.8 in passing and 173.9 in rushing.
