No. 8 Ohio State play No. 25 Minnesota in one of the most contested college football games on Saturday, November 15, at 12:00 PM ET at the TFC Bank Stadium, Minneapolis, Minn.
After losing to Virginia Tech in Week 2, the Ohio State Buckeyes have slowly climbed back into the top 10 of the AP Polls as well as the all-important college football playoff rankings this week by beating then-No. 8 Michigan State 49-37 last Saturday.
At last, the Buckeyes have earned much respect as they were in the top 10 of the CFP rankings.
”The good thing is I’ve got nine good coaches and, more importantly, I have players that understand we didn’t play as well as we could on defense and we expect to play much better,” coach Urban Meyers said ”There’s plenty to work on.”
While the Buckeyes cherished the victory against rival Michigan State, they have to turn their eyes against the Minnesota Golden Gophers who are dangerous in many ways.
Quarterback J.T. Barrett completed 16 of 26 passes for 300 yards and three touchdowns against no interceptions, and added 86 yards and two touchdowns in 14 runs against the tight defense of Michigan State. Barrett continues to impress the entire organization, as well as the spectators because of his all around game.
The Buckeyes pounded the ball on the ground through Ezekiel Elliot with 154 yards and two touchdowns in 23 rushes. With the offensive line of the Buckeyes doing its best, Elliot and Barrett are going to be derailing the defense of the Gophers
Offensively, Ohio State averages 251.9 yards in passing and 260.2 yards in rushing. Defensively, Ohio State yields 201 yards in passing and 125.2 in rushing.
Minnesota (7-2) would not be intimated by the Buckeyes. The Gophers have to keep winning games, hoping that they would have a chance to play in the Big 10 Championship. The Gophers are currently second in the Big 10 West.
The Gophers outlasted Iowa, 51-14, on November 8 through a complete rushing attacks from Mitch Leidner (77 yards), David Cobb (75), KJ Maye (66) and Berkley Edwards (35). Leidner also completed 10 of 13 passes for 138 yards and four touchdowns.
Offensively, Minnesota averages 140.2 in passing and 224.3 in rushing. Defensively, Minnesota yields 197.8 yards in passing and 137.6 in passing.
