The Indianapolis Colts take on the New York Giants on Monday Night Football at the MetLife Stadium, E. Rutherford, N.J.
Losing 51-34 to the Steelers, the Colts (5-3) want to bounce back immediately as they play on the road over New York, who suffered also a defeat in the previous game.
Andrew Luck and the Colts were in a five game-winning streak until they were bumped by the high-octane offense of Pittsburgh. The defense allowed 522 passing yards to Ben Roethlisberger and six touchdowns.
“It’s bad football,” coach Chuck Pagano said in one of his interviews. “It’s not intentional, but it’s bad football and you’re not going to win games playing like that.”
The way the Colts lost last Sunday was unfathomable. They also couldn’t match the offense of the Steelers as Luck played well but with two interceptions in 26 of 45 passes for 400 yards and three touchdowns.
Ty Hilton and Donte Moncrief would be the key players in the passing game of the Colts. They were over 100 yards each in the receiving end. Moreover, Luck must avoid those turnovers. The problem with the Colts was the rushing offense which produced only 63 yards, with Ahmad Bradshaw getting 35 yards.
Offensively, Indianapolis averages 336.5 yards in passes, first in the NFL, and 115.8 yards rushes. Defensively, Indianapolis yields 252.9 in passes and 99.2 in rushes.
New York (3-4) want to come out from their two consecutive losses against the Eagles, 27-0, and against the Cowboys, 31-21.
Eli Manning continues to be efficient as he threw for 248 yards and three touchdowns against Dallas. He never have interceptions in the last three games.
“We’ve got nine games to play as well as we can possibly play,” coach Tom Coughlin said. “I think anybody in that locker room can do that. They just have to realize the amount of the season and the schedule that’s gone by and yet we have nine opportunities.
It would be a test for the Giants to contain Luck. If they will contain the No. 1 offense in passing, then the Giants will win.
Offensively, New York averages 219.1 in passes and 113.6 in rushes. Defensively, New York yields 262.4 in passes and 122 in rushes.
