Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos play the St Louis Rams on Sunday in one of the NFL games at 1:00 PM ET at the Edward Jones Dome, St Louis, Mo.
The Denver Broncos want to maintain their momentum to keep pace with the New England Patriots for the battle for the No. 1 seed in the NFC. While the Broncos have all the advantages in the world, they must be careful about the Rams because they are very dangerous.
Running back Ronnie Hillman is likely to be out against the Rams but C.J. Anderson is always prepared to show his power in the running game.
Anderson rushed for 90 yards in 13 attempts and 73 yards on the ground against the defense of the Raiders last week in a Broncos 41-17 victory. Truly, Anderson did his part to help the Broncos.
Part of the success of the Broncos is the running game, but with Peyton Manning as the quarterback, life is easier to dismantle the defense of the Rams.
Manning completed 31 of 44 passes for 340 yards and five touchdowns against two interceptions. Manning exploited the defense of the opposing team as he found Damaryius Thomas 11 times for 118 yards. Emmanuel Sanders added 67 yards and two touchdowns as part of the receiving corpse.
“(Anderson’s performance) speaks to the depth we have,” Fox said. “We’ve been pretty fortunate to have some guys stepping in and doing a good job. I think it’s a tribute to those guys being on top of their craft.”
Offensively, Denver averages 317.9 yards in passing and 96.8 in rushing. Defensively, Denver yields 247.1 in passing and 67.0 in rushing (1st in the NFL).
The Rams (3-6) have the defense to topple the Broncos. As a matter of fact, the Rams are No. 1 in the league in sacks since Week 7. Against division rivals, San Francisco and Seattle, the Rams had 11 sacks. This only showed that the Rams are defensive oriented and probably they will figure out how to hit Manning.
St Louis lost to Arizona 31-14 on Sunday but they had three sacks.
Austin Davis completed 17 of 30 passes for 216 yards and one touchdown against two interceptions. His performance allowed coach Jeff Fisher to have a quarterback change against the Broncos. Shaun Hill will start for the Rams.
“Obviously it sparks your excitement a little bit and all those things, but as far as preparation goes, everything’s the same,” Hill said.
Offensively, St Louis averages 212.8 yards in passing and 97.4 in rushing. Defensively, St Louis yields 234.3 yards in passing and 124.2 in rushing.
