The Arizona Cardinals play the Dallas Cowboys in one of the most anticipated NFL games on Sunday at the AT&T Stadium, Arlington, TX.
Arizona enjoys being on top of the NFC and this is the team’s best start in 40 years. As expected after winning 10 games last season, the Cardinals are the dark horses in the NFL. Not only that they have been conquering the tough and competitive NFC West with the defending Super Bowl champions Seattle and perennial contenders SF 49ers, the Cardinals are tied on top of the NFL with the Denver Broncos.
Carson Palmer understands how to be the leader of Arizona. He is ready to keep Arizona on top of the NFC and his experience would become crucial especially when the game is on the line.
Palmer connected a 75-yard TD pass with 1:21 left to beat Philadelphia, 24-20, despite the ten penalties that his team incurred. The quarterback completed 20 of 42 passes for 329 yards.
Riding in a three-game winning streak, the Cardinals would love to tame the offense of the Cowboys, especially the running game of DeMarco Murray.
“Realizing all the negative things that happened and we still keep getting wins, I do think we have a good swagger about us, a confidence, and that will continue to live if we keep winning,” Palmer said.
Offensively, Arizona averages 240.3 yards in passing and 88.9 in rushing. Defensively, Arizona yields 302.9 in passing, worst in the league, and 77.9 yards in rushing, third in the NFL. With the numbers, the Cardinals have to tools to defend Murray, while their weakness would be on how they will contain Tony Romo, who is doubtful of playing.
On the other hand, the Dallas Cowboys suffered a terrible blow last Monday, losing 20-17 overtime to Washington. Romo suffered a back injury and it would be a game time decision for him.
“Anytime someone’s had back surgery you’re always a little bit nervous when you get hit in a specific instance like that,” Romo said. “The positive is it’s completely unrelated to the disk or anything that could be long-term, per se. So that part of if, yeah, that’s a positive.”
Romo threw for 209 yards and a touchdown in 17 of 28 passes. He is one of the keys for Dallas to be victorious against the defense of the opposing team.
Brandon Weeden is prepared to be the replacement of Romo. With the passing game in question because of the uncertain status of Romo, running back Murray would be the center piece of the Cowboys to deliver. He rushed for at least 100 yards in all the games he played so far this season. He is the leader in the NFL with 1,054 rushing yards with seven touchdowns.
Offensively, Dallas averages 240.1 yards in passing and 161.1 in rushing. Defensively, Dallas averages 237.4 in passing and 114.6 in rushing.
