For Alabama to maintain its No. 1 spot, it has to win all the remaining games, including this one, though expected to be lopsided. Alabama has to play Auburn and the SEC Championship game to be certain in the top four of the college football playoff rankings.
”Basically, what I mean by that is as a head coach when you have energy vampires on your team who never do what they’re supposed to do and take all your energy as a coach,” Saban said on Monday. ”So you’ve got five guys who take all your energy and never get to enjoy the other 95 guys who do everything right.
Alabama jumped from fifth to first in the rankings after a 25-20 victory over then-No. 1 Mississippi State.

For Alabama, the real challenge would be the game against Auburn. Coach Saban understands that his players have to stay sharp in preparation for that game.
Offensively, Alabama averages 274.2 yards in passing and 197.9 in rushing. Defensively, Alabama yields 195.9 yards in passing and 94.6 in rushing.
West Carolina (7-4) has been outplayed by a combined 153-6 score in three meetings with Alabama - all since 2004 - and lost 49-0 in 2012. While it would be difficult for the catamounts to beat Alabama, they will have to try their best.
