SF Giants vs KC Royals schedule: World Series Game 2 Scores and Updates

The San Francisco Giants hope to get back home with 2-0 lead, while the KC Royals need this game most. Game 2 of the World Series 2014 takes on Wednesday at 8:07 PM.

Madison Bumgarner pitched with excellence in Game One to bring the SF Giants into 1-0 series advantage as they scored 7-1 Tuesday Night.

San Francisco sends Jake Peavy on the mound to steal the game on the road. Peavy understands how strong the KC Royals lineup against him. Players on the Royals’ World Series roster have hit .287/.337/.460 in 190 total plate appearances against Peavy.

Billy Butler averages 0.424 with three homeruns while Alex Gordon averages .357 in 28 at bats with 10 hits and a home run. Meanwhile Alcides Escobar has an average of .409 in 9-of-22 against Peavy.

Peavy hasn’t been successful in the MLB postseason so far, with 7.03 ERA and nd 1.72 WHIP in 32 innings. However, Peavy is expected to do well against the Royals and he anticipates that he will get much help to get the win.

With the failure of James Shields to calm the Giants batters in Game One. Rookie Yordano Ventura (14-10, 3.20 ERA, 2.30 K/BB in 183 innings) will be on the mound for the KC Royals.

Because the SF Giants have never faced Ventura, they don’t know how to handle him, and this would be the slight advantage for the Royals. Ventura has to contain the Giants’ offensive arsenals. He must limit them for the Kc Royals to have a chance to win.

“For me, my big focus is always to make sure I treat is it as the same game. Go out and execute every pitch as I have throughout the season. Remain calm and treat it like any other game. Where I came from and where I grew up, I didn’t get many opportunities to watch (the World Series). But certainly the one I remember is 2004 the Red Sox with Pedro Martinez and Manny Ramirez helping them win the World Series”, Ventura said.

Buster Posey and Pablo Sandoval would love to attempt in destroying the poise of the rookie pitcher in Game 2.
