The SF Giants take on the Kansas City Royals in Game One of the World Series 2014 at the Kauffman Stadium on October 21, 2014 at 8:07 PM ET.
The best in the National League and the best in the American League would fight for the prestigious best-of-seven World Series. Both teams have surprised their opponents as they played with domination. The SF Giants were 8-2, while the KC Royals were 8-0 in the playoffs so far.
Without a doubt, this would be the most anticipated World Series of all because of the way both teams obliterated their opponents. Kansas City outlasted Los Angeles and Baltimore in 4-0 in each of the series. The SF Giants won also with 4-1 record on each of the series. Thus, the collision in the World Series 2014 would highly be in a high note.
Giants Manager Bruce Bochy will have an opportunity to maintain his rotation for the World Series because of the long rest. The SF Giants will start ace pitcher Madison Bumgarner, who played with eight strong innings on Thursday over St. Louis. He yielded three runs on five hits and struck out five and walked two.
Buster Posey and the SF Giants seek for their third World Series in five years. Never forget the name Tim Lincecum, who was instrumental in those World Series victories in 2010 and 2012. Bochy added Lincecum in the roster, though he hasn’t pitched yet in the playoff this season.
The Kansas City Royals will have James Shields on the mound. He has been a key to the Royals October run so far. Shields has not earned his “Big Game” nickname with a 4.96 lifetime ERA in postseason action, but he can turn this numbers around as he takes the San Francisco batters.
Because of the long rest, Bumgarner was benefited. Bumgarner has already thrown 249 innings in the regular season, including four postseason outings. He was the NLCS MVP, and started last Thursday when the Giants closed out St. Louis.
”Honestly, I feel the best I’ve felt all year for the last probably two months,” the lefty said.
Who got benefited from the long rest? Who would take Game One of the World Series?
