The Kansas City Chiefs look to win at home against the visiting St Louis Rams on Sunday at the Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City, Mo.
With the 23-20 victory over the mighty Chargers last Sunday, the Chiefs have regained confidence by getting back into the .500. Kansas City (3-3) surprised the home team through the 48-yard field goal of Cairo Santos.
The defense went on to deliver its best for San Diego, containing Chargers 285.5 passing average to 182 last Sunday. With the defense playing in the highest level, the Chiefs would have a chance to win a game.
”I think this team is in a good place mentally,” said quarterback Alex Smith in one of the interviews, who had eight touchdowns and one interception in the last four games.
“This was an opportunity for us to kind of show what we’re made of, show the country. I feel like we’re in a good place and we’ll keep going.”
Offensively, Kansas City averages 199.7 yards in passing and 140.3 yards in rushing. Defensively, Kansas City yields 209 in passing and 117.7 in rushing. With all the defensive intensity for the Chiefs, they would likely take control of the game early to upstage a victory.
Fresh from a stunning 28-26 win over Seattle last Sunday, the St Louis Rams aim to be contenders in the coming weeks. With a tight schedule against powerful teams in the NFC West, the Rams have to improve to be competitive.
Though Rams defense gave up 463 yards to the Seahawks and allowed Russell Wilson to become the first NFL quarterback to finish at least 300 yards in pass and 100 in rush last week, they were able to overcome by the plays of the special team.
Stedman Bailey was able to return a 90-yard punt for a touchdown in the second quarter. Without a doubt, the Rams can focus on defending the offense of the Kansas City Chiefs.
Offensively, St Louis averages 253.8 yards in passing and 105.3 in rushing. Defensively, St Louis yields 234 yards in passing and 145 in rushing.
This game a monumental collision for both the Rams and the Chiefs. The winner would likely be part of the race for the NFL playoffs, while the loser would have a difficult journey in bouncing back.
