What could have been the most anticipated game, if both teams weren’t beaten.
No. 12 Oregon takes on UCLA on Saturday at 3:30 PM at the Rose Bowl, Los Angeles, CA. The Ducks failed to maintain their top 10 rankings after losing to Arizona last week. With the loss, the Ducks try to bounce back and to be back in the rankings.
Quarterback Marcus Mariota threw for 276 yards and two touchdowns but the Ducks couldn’t stop the offense of Arizona. Mariota has been considered to be a Heisman Trophy candidate and he has to bring his team back into winning.
Oregon needs to fix the problem in the offensive line to give more time for Mariota to navigate the offense and make his passes accurate. He has been sacked and pressured by Arizona in that loss.
Oregon averages 48.5 points per game in the 4-0 start but they just scored only 24. Moreover, the Ducks had two turnovers last week that truly limited their chances of winning the game.
Offensively, Oregon averages 324.4 yards in passing and 209 yards in rushing. Defensively, Oregon yields 309.6 yards in passing and 143.4 yards in rushing.
The UCLA Bruins couldn’t hang on to Utah in a loss, 30-28, last week. Because of the setback, coach Jim Mora has to find out how to protect his quarterback Brett Hundley who was sacked 10 times.
“I’ll say it again and until the day that I die or get out of football. Sacks are a component of all 11 (players),” coach Jim Mora said. “Sometimes it’s a rush, sometimes you get beat, and sometimes the quarterback holds it for too long. It’s a function of all of those things.
Hundley completed 16 of 21 passes for 269 yards and two touchdowns. He struggled throughout the game because of the pressure from the opposing team.
Offensively, UCLA averages 297.6 yards in passing and 167.8 in rushing. Defensively, UCLA yiels 271 yards in passing and 158 in rushing.
