Stafford navigated through the defense of the Saints when he connected to grab the lead after trailing 23-10. Stafford completed 27 of 40 passes for 299 yards, including those two touchdown passes.
Golden Tate responded with 10 catches for 154 yards and one touchdown. Tate was the primary target of Stafford while Calvin Johnson was not playing. Corey Fuller added 44 yards and a touchdown in three catches.
For the New Orleans Saints, the defense had failed to stop the offense of the opposing team.
Drew Brees completed 28 of 45 passes for 342 yards and two touchdowns against one interception. Safety Glover Quin intercepted the pass of Brees that became crucial because it provided the Lions a chance in inside the last three minutes.
Michael Colston had 111 yards in six receptions while Kenny Stills added 103 yards and one touchdown in five catches for the Saints.
The Saints were stunned by giving up 14 points in that span of time. First, Stafford found Tate for a 73 yard catch and run that pushed the score into 23-17. Then, Brees misfired and Quin intercepted on third down and a 23-yard return. The Lions had the ball on New Orleans 14 and Stafford seized the moment.
