The Dallas Cowboys take on the Washington Redskins on Monday Night Football (MNF) to assert their supremacy in the NFC East at the AT&T Stadium, Arlington Texas.
Part of the success of the Cowboys (6-1) can be attributed to running back DeMarco Murray and quarterback Tony Romo. Both players are taking care of the business in offense to lead Dallas into six consecutive wins.
Even owner Jerry Jones is surprised about the record of the Cowboys that he said, “”I think our record is above what we could have expected, but we have it and it’s a credit to a team that’s building in confidence,”
Murray has been making the biggest damage to the opponents by becoming the first running back in the history of the NFL to start a season with seven straight 100-yard games. He is on top of the NFL with 913 yards and seven TDs on the ground. Murray played well with 128 yards in 28 carries and a TD in a 31-21 victory over the Giants last Sunday.
Dallas coach Jason Garrett said, “Teams have geared up to stop the run and even though they’ve done that we’ve still been able to continue to run the football and DeMarco’s a big part of that…”
With the effective running game of Murray, the pressure is removed from Romo, who has led in the league in completion percentage with 69.2.
Offensively, Dallas averages 242.4 in passing and 159.7 in rushing. Defensively, Dallas yields 230.4 in passing and 113.4 in rushing.
On the other hand, the Washington Redskins (2-5) season is on the line. Though the Redskins defeated Tennessee 19-17 last Sunday, they must continue to win.
While Colt McCoy completed 11 of 12 passes for 128 yards and a touchdown as a reliever, coach Jay Gruden decided to make him the starter on Monday Night Football.
”I’ve already made the decision. I’ve said it’s going to be Colt,” Gruden said. ”I’ve said Robert will be the wild card, possibly, if he’s ready to go, and that still hasn’t been decided yet.”
McCoy has the experience as a starter with the Cleveland Browns in 2010 and 2011.
Offensively, Washington averages 290 yards in passing and 99.4 in rushing. Defensively, Washington yields 218.6 in passing and 103.3 in rushing.
