The Florida State Seminoles were dislodged from No. 1 into No. 2 in the AP Poll after the Mississippi State go more first place votes this week.
No.2 Florida State takes on No. 5 Notre Dame football on Saturday at 8:00 PM ET at the Bobby Bowden Field at Doak Campbell Stadium
Tallahassee, FL. The undefeated Seminoles will try to bounce back into No. 1 if they beat the Fighting Irish.
Jameis Winston completed 30 of 36 passes for 317 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Seminoles in a 38-20 victory over the Syracuse Orange last Saturday. Winston was efficient in handling this game as he navigated with such calm and control.
With Rashard Green,with 107 yards in six catches, and Nick O’Leary, with 97 yards in eight catches, the passing offense of the Seminoles would be difficult to defend. Moreover, the offensive line of the Seminoles has played significantly well to protect Winston.
Dalvin Cook rushed for 122 yards and a touchdown in 23 attempts to break through the defense of Syracuse. If Cook can duplicate his performance, then the Seminoles will have an easy way beating their opponents.
Offensively, Florida State averages 324 yards in passing and 138.5 in rushing. Defensively, Florida State yields 213.7 yards in passing and 144.8 yards in rushing.
The Fighting Irish will have an opportunity to upset yet another No. 2 in the AP Poll. Then-No 2 Oregon Ducks in Week 6, and then-No 2 in Auburn Tigers in Week 7 were defeated and outlasted. Now, it’s the turn for the No. 2 Seminoles to withstand the pressure of being in the second place in the AP Poll.
Notre Dame football defeated North Carolina, 50-43, last Saturday to stay undefeated. Everett Golson completed 21 of 38 passes for 300 yards, three touchdowns against one interception. He also rushed 71 yards in 12 attempts. Golson’s primary target was William Fuller who caught seven passes for 133 yards and two touchdowns.
Tarean Folston rushed for 98 yards and two touchdowns in 18 attempts. He also added 71 yards and a score on the air in seven receptions. The offense of the Fighting Irish is centered on Golson and Folston.
The Fighting would like to consider this game as a launching pad for another attempt at the National title. Offensively, Notre Dame averages 280.5 yards in passing and 163.8 in rushing. Defensively, Notre Dame yields 237.8 yards in passing and 110.5 yards in rushing.
