After the shakeups, the Florida State Seminoles remain on top of the college football rankings.
Florida State takes on Syracuse on Saturday, October 11, at 12:00 PM ET at the carrier Dome, Syracuse, NY for the ACC ATL battle. With all their rivals in the top 10, including Alabama, Oklahoma, Oregon and UCLA losing, the Seminoles stayed at No. 1 with a win.
Because of the college football playoff system, even with a perfect season, it would not guarantee anymore an automatic bid for the National Championship game. In this regard, the Seminoles have a shot at the top four teams which will be selected to play for the college football playoff.
Florida State (5-0) showed its dominance after beating Wake Forest 43-3 last Saturday. The Seminoles allowed the Demon Deacons to score the first three points but their defense and offense worked well and they had the last 43 points.
Jameis Winston completed 23 of 39 passes for 297 yards and one touchdown without interceptions. Winston’s efficiency in the game proved that he can lead this FSU team into another level.
While the offense played enough by spreading the passes, Ermon Lane had 70 yards in two receptions while Travis Rudolph added 66 yards and a touchdown in four receptions. Jameis has all the weapons necessary in the passing offense of the Florida State Seminoles.
The rushing game would always be part of the equation in winning games for the Seminoles, Karlos Williams and Mario Pender can be contributor against the Syracuse Orange.
Offensively, Florida State averages 325.4 yards per game in passing and 133.2 yards in rushing. Defensively, Florida State yields 205.2 yards in passing and 142.6 yards in rushing per game.
Syracuse searches deeper to pull off an upset after losing to the Louisville Cardinals 28-6 last Saturday. The Orange need this game to boost up their confidence to stay in contention.
While scoring only six points, Terrel Hunt completed 15 of 31 passes for 171 yards without interceptions. He was totally affected by the defense of the opponents. To get into scoring touchdowns, Jarrod west, Ben Lews and Josh Parris need to have the ability to found the passes of their quarterback.
Offensively, Syracuse averages 214.6 yards in passing and 197.8 yards in rushing. Defensively, Syracuse yields 239.6 yards in passing and 130.4 in rushing per game.
