The Tampa Bay Buccaneers play the New Orleans Saints in the battle at the NFC South on Sunday at the Mercedes-Benz Super Dome, New Orleans Louisiana.
An awful start for the Saints (1-3), and it would continue if they would not be able to get out of the slump. The Saints are known to have the high-powered offense through Drew Brees yet they produced only one victory in four games.
New Orleans suffered a terrible defeat in the hands of the Cowboys last week, 38-17. They allowed 190 yards on the ground while they struggled to get their own running offense.
Truly, the passing offense was present when Brees completed 32 of 44 passes for 340 yards and two touchdowns, but the Saints defense couldn’t bring them a win. The Saints have the numbers of receivers whom Brees spreads the ball. Jimmy Graham, Kenny Stills, Travaris Cadet, and Marques Colston could be effective in the passing game to make the life of Brees easier.
Offensively, New Orleans averages 294.5 yards in passing and 131.2 yards in rushing. Defensively, New Orleans yields 272.5 yards in passing and 123.5 yards in rushing per game.
While the Saints are struggling, the Buccaneers are searching for their second consecutive victory. The Buccaneers shocked the Steelers, 27-24 last Sunday. Quarterback Mike Glennon, filling in for the injured Josh McCowan, has handled the game magnificently by throwing a five-yard touchdown to Vincent Jackson to get the victory.
“You do judge quarterbacks on what they do late, and he was at his best at the end, right up until the last throw,” coach Lovie Smith said of Glennon, who started 13 games as a rookie last season.
Glennon would be the starter of the Buccaneers against the Saints. This is the moment for Glennon to show forth his stuffs. He completed 21 of 42 passes for 302 yards and two touchdowns against the defense of the Steelers.
Offensively, Tampa Bay averages 194.2 yards in passing and 96.5 yards in rushing. Defensively, Tampa Bay yields 272.5 yards in passing and 115.2 yards in rushing per game.
