The Azkals face Papua New Guinea in a friendly match at the Rizal Memorial Stadium on Sunday at 8:00 PM.
The Philippine soccer team would love to take this an opportunity for improvement in the upcoming AFF Suzuki Cup. The Azkals make this their first encounter against the Papua New Guinea.
With coach Thomas Dooley, the Azkals have plenty of areas to improve as the game progresses. They have five more weeks to rise up and to prepare for the the Suzuki Cup.
Because of the unexpected circumstances, both the opponents of Papua New Guinea and Azkals backed out of their respective games, and this game was scheduled to fill up those games.
“It hasn’t been the ideal preparation for us, but we have to make the most out of our time together,” said Dooley, who can only require clubs to release players for national team duty during the international break.
Dooley wants his team to bounce back after losing to Myanmar in the Peace Cup last month, 3-2.
