Not long ago when Mississippi State shocked the LSU Tigers, 34-29, last September 20. Many considered it a fluke then, and it is time for the Mississippi State Bulldogs to prove their critics are wrong.
Mississippi State football takes on the mighty Texas A&M on Saturday October 4, at 12:00 PM ET on October 4, at the Davis Wade Stadium at Scott Field, Starkville, MS.
Without a doubt a victory here for the Mississippi State Bulldogs would bring them into the top 10 of the rankings. The Bulldogs are ranked sixth in the rushing defense, yielding only 82.5 yards per game. It is their main arsenal against SEC teams in pulling off an upset. However, the passing offense might be the problem as the Bulldogs yield an average of 319 yards per game, 116th in FBS.
Mobile quarterback Dak Prescott has been the key in the early success of the Bulldogs. He completed 15 of 24 passes for 268 yards and two touchdowns and added 105 yards in 22 attempts and a score in rushing to dismantle the LSU Tigers. With Prescott staying at the middle, Mississippi State can thrive against the defense of Texas A&M.
Adding into the rushing offense is Josh Robinson who had 197 yards and a touchdown in 16 attempts. Robinson and Prescott need to be aggressive against the Aggies.Jameon Lewis and D Wilson were combined for 207 yards and two TD to compliment the passing game of the quarterback.
On the other side of the coin, Texas A&M continues to impress the college football world. The Aggies survived the potential threat from Arkansas last week as they won 35-28 in OT.
Quarterback Kenny Hill completed 21 of 41 passes for 386 yards and four touchdowns. He carried his team in completing a come-from-behind victory that put the Aggies to have a 5-0 record.
Edward Pope had 151 yards and two touchdowns in four receptions while Josh Reynolds added 89 yards in four receptions and a touchdown. The high-octane offense of the Aggies will be tested against the defense of the Bulldogs.
This is a separation game in the SEC West. The winner would continue to live the dream of getting into the SEC title, and probably in the national championship game.
