While there is still room to improve, Ohio State grabs the opportunity to make changes in order be better. Just after being stunned by the Hokies in Week 2, the Buckeyes are back with new perspective and motivation.
Ohio State takes on Maryland on Saturday, October 4 at 12:00 PM ET, at the Byrd Stadium, College Park, MD. A game for the Buckeyes to test themselves on how capable they are in beating a legitimate contender.
As the season progresses, the Buckeyes are becoming dangerous in the offense. The Buckeyes defeated Cincinnati, 50-28, last Saturday through the sterling performances of J.T. Barrett and Ezekiel Elliott. The quarterback threw for 182 yards and four touchdowns in leading his team to a dominating win. Elliot also turned his legs as he rushed for 182 yards and a TD. Barrett also hat 79 yards in 14 carries.
”When you have a horizontal and vertical punch, that’s the hardest offense to defend,” the third-year Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer said.
Ohio State accumulated a whopping 710 yards total yards against the Bearcats. And it is likely that the Buckeyes would get the same numbers against Maryland.
Offensively, Ohio State averages 279.8 yards in passing and 241.5 yards in rushing. The Buckeyes have the balance offense to be implemented over the Terrapins.
Maryland (4-1) can be explosive over the Buckeyes defense. The Terrapins overpowered Indiana, 37-15, last Saturday through the one of a kind performance of backup quarterback Caleb Rowe, who completed 12 of 18 passes for 198 yards and two touchdowns, after Brown was injured.
Moreover, the receivers of the Terrapins responded at the right time. Stepen Diggs caught times for 112 yards and a TD while Deon Long added 108 yards to help Maryland in finishing the game. If Maryland would have to be on top of this game, the offense must be at the highest level.
Offensively, Maryland averages 262.4 yards in passing and 155.2 yards in rushing. The Terrapins have the offensive attacks that could destroy the Buckeyes.
This is a collision of Big Ten teams and expect for a classic game.
