Since Urban Meyer took the cudgels as the head coach of the Buckeyes, they never suffered a regular season loss early in the first two games, until it happened Saturday. The Buckeyes were in shock and awe when the Virginia Tech Hokies controlled the game meticulously.
Ohio State takes comfort on the task of playing against a much weaker opponent of Kent State this coming Saturday. Ohio State should have everything at its disposal to be back and to recover from that debacle.
After being ranked fifth, the Buckeyes dropped into No. 22. The way the game transpired was surely be because of the freshman quarterback J.T. Barrett and the four new starters, who, at some sort, played with many mistakes.
Ohio State surrendered 320 yards against the Hokies, 121 of the yards were on the ground. Clearly, the defense needs to be bolstered in order to compete with big teams but against the Golden Flashes, it can win.
”I want to get to the point at Ohio State where it’s shutdown, lockdown defense,” Meyer said. ”We can make that happen as we continue to grow this year. There is still some new blood out there playing (but) there were far too many mental mistakes.”, coach Meyer said.
Kent State Golden Flashes are in search for a win, after having a rough 0-2 start. Without a doubt, Kent State desperately needs a break but not against the Buckeyes.
In week 1, the Golden Flashes lost to Ohio, 17-14, on field goal, and they suffered another defeat, 23-13, last Saturday to South Alabama. Kent State couldn’t carry the momentum that they had last year when it ended with a back-to-back wins by outscoring its opponents 68-19.
Absolutely, Ohio State would like to take charge of the game from early start through their passing game. The Buckeyes like get back from their feet after losing last week.
Ohio State Buckeyes vs Kent State Golden Flashes start time is at 12:00 PM ET. Ohio State football vs Kent state tv channel schedule is on ESPN2.
