The Miami Hurricanes face the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Saturday at 8:00 PM at the Memorial Stadium,Lincoln, NE.
Miami pulled off one of the most thrilling offensive performances last week when it defeated Arkansas State 41-20. Quarterback Brad Kaaya threw for 342 yards and four touchdowns to help the Hurricanes to dominate the entire game. Moreover, wide receiver Philip Dorsett had 201 yards in four receptions to become the first FBS player since 1997 to capture 200 yards on no more than four catches.
In the running offense of the Hurricanes, Duke Johnson had 90 yards in 14 runs and a touchdown, while Gus Edwards rushed for another touchdown. Joseph Yearby added 32 yards in 10 carries. Miami ended up with 488 total offense.
The offense of the Hurricanes will be tested over the defense of the Cornhuskers. If Kaaya can pass through the teeth of defense of Nebraska, then the Hurricanes have a chance to win.
Nebraska seeks to have a 4-0 start since 2011. The Cornhuskers have one of the best offenses in the nation as they average 594.3 yards through the leadership of quarterback Tommy Armstrong Jr.
Nebraska defeated Fresno State, 55-19, on September 12 through the offensive game of Armstrong who threw for 260 yards and three touchdowns. He controlled the offense of the Cornhuskers by finding his receivers Kenny Bell with 84 yards and J Westerkamp with 85 yards.
Aside from the passing package, the rushing game was dominant through running back Ameer Abdullah who rushed 19 times for 110 yards. Imani Cross added 69 yards in three carries.
Miami and Nebraska have the history to share with. Miami defeated Nebraska in the Orange Bowl twice for the national titles in 1983 and 91. On the other hand, the Cornhuskers won their Orange Bowl against the Hurricanes in 1994. The last meeting was memorable when Miami outlasted Nebraska in the Rose Bowl 2001 for the national title.
