After a forgettable loss in the Super Bowl 2014 seven months ago to the Seattle Seahawks, the Denver Broncos want to avenge themselves as they meet the reigning Super Bowl champs on the road on Sunday.
Denver (2-0) likes the challenge of encountering the Seahawks once again and it hopes that the results would be totally different this time. After missing Wes Welker in the previous games, the slot receiver is back to boost the Broncos offense.
Quarterback Peyton Manning continues to do the damage against the opponent when he completed 21 of 26 passes for 242 yards and three touchdowns to overpower the Kansas City Chiefs 24-17 last Sunday. Significantly, Manning has already six touchdowns this season.
The Broncos defense was responsible of stopping the Chiefs at the goal line in the final minute. Denver showed the toughness of the defense that was never present in the Super Bowl against the Seahawks.
“Hey, we’re 2-0 going on the road trying to be 3-0 and that’s the best place you can be: undefeated,” cornerback Chris Harris said. “And we have lofty goals and all the fans have lofty goals for us. They expect us to kill everybody every week. You all (reporters) probably do, too. But it’s the NFL. Teams are coming to play us like it’s the Super Bowl every week.”
Manning has been playing superb so fart as he leads the NFL with a 126.5 passer rating. His targets include Emmanuel Sanders and Julius Thomas as they accumulated 185 yards and 143 yards respectively.
Will the offense of the Broncos be able to destroy the defense of the Seahawks?
After winning the opener 36-16 over Green Bay, the Seahawks were stunned by the Chargers last Sunday, 30-21. The Seahawks defense gave up three touchdowns to tight end Antonio Gates and it allowed Philip Rivers’ passer rating of 124.2.
Against the Chargers, Russell Wilson threw for 202 yards and two touchdowns. Russell was totally effective against the Broncos defense in the Super Bowl when he had 206 yards and two touchdowns in that memorable and lopsided 43-8 victory at the MetLife Stadium on February 2.
What happened to the defense of the Seahawks? Will the Seahawks play a dominating defense against the Broncos?
