It is confirmed and reported, Carson Palmer will not play for the Arizona Cardinals.
The Cardinals would love this game to be a litmus test to know what they are capable at this stage of the NFL season. Arizona faces San Francisco in a divisional rivalry in the NFC West on Sunday’s NFL at the University of Phoenix Stadium, Glendale, AZ at 4:05 PM.
Drew Stanton will be the replacement at the quarterback for the Cardinals, while Logan Thomas may take the backup. Moreover, running back Jonathan Dwyer will not take part of the game after his arrest on aggravated assault charges.
Coach Bruce Arians knows the impact of missing both Palmer and Dwyer at the same time.
“It was like the worst nightmare a coach can have right now,” Arians said. “For me personally, I was totally shocked because I’ve known Jon a long time and it was totally out of character from what I’ve known.”
Stanton showed that he had the touches when he threw for 167 yards and no interceptions in their game last Sunday. It is in the shoulders of Stanton on how the offense of the Cardinals would revolve over the defense of the 49ers.
San Francisco will try to bounce back after a disappointing loss to the Chicago Bears, 28-20, last Sunday.
Collin Kaepernick wants to redeem himself after a poor game when he had three interceptions and a lost fumble that brought his team down, blowing a 17-point lead. Also, Kaepernick has been fined more than $11,000 by the NFL and he will appeal the penalty for what was called ”inappropriate language” by the 49ers star following a fourth-quarter interception.
The 49ers need to cut their penalties to have a chance to win this game. The previous numbers of penalties ( 16 penalties for 118 yards) were unacceptable.
Kaepernick would have to find his star receivers Michael Crabtree and Anquan Boldin to increase the passing game’s ability to control the outcome of the game.
