Mapua delivered an improbable upset by overpowering Perpetual Help, 91-81, to continue its winning streak in the NCAA Season 90 at the Arena in San Juan Wednesday.
CJ Isit had 21 points and 10 assists to help control the tempo of the game for Cardinals as they captured their third straight game. The Cardinals already won four games with the record of 4-10 to surpassed what they accomplished last year.
The Cardinals never looked back as they maintained an eight point lead throughout the first three quarters. However, the Atlas tried to pull off a rally, but of no avail.
Perpetual Help recovered the lead, 68-65, through the three-pointer of Juneric Baloria. It paved the way for the Cardinals to dig deeper and went on to have a 9-0 spurt that put them back on top in the fourth quarter. Joseph Iriobu and Isit’s freethrows were crucial for the Cardinals as they relinquished the lead, 76-71, with 4:18 left.
The Altas now currently at fifth place with a record of 8-6.
