Ohio State football: Buckeyes take Virginia Tech Hokies

Ohio State vs Virginia Tech is one of the marquee games this coming Saturday, at 8:00 PM ET at the Ohio Stadium Columbus, OH.

The Buckeyes suffered path to the college football playoff is unknown this season after ace quarterback Braxton Miller was injured prior to the 2014 games. Braxton has been the quarterback who led the Buckeyes in the past seasons to winning records.

Coach Urban Meyer has the dilemma which of the backups would he choose. Meyer selected J.T. Barrett to replace Miller. It was uncertain for the Buckeyes if Barrett was the right quarterback, until last Saturday when he completed 12-of-15 passes for 226 yards and two touchdowns against one interception. Barret also had 50 yards on the ground in nine attempts against the defense of the Navy Midshipmen.

The Buckeyes have to play against a much bigger and faster Hokies. Barrett’s best game has not yet seen and he would rather make the noise in hitting his receivers or throw interceptions to get the loss.

Buckeyes air attacks consist of Devin Smith and Dontre Wilson. Smith had caught two times for 94 yards, including a touchdown over Navy. If the Buckeyes have to beat the Hokies, then the receivers need to be attached to the quarterback.

In the running game of the Buckeyes, Ezekiel Elliot and Curtis Samuel are reliable to push the ball. Everybody knows that coach Meyer has so many surprises in his offensive setups. The spread running game can create havoc to the defense of the Hokies.

Virginia Tech Hokies are legitimate contenders in the ACC. The Hokies have the tradition of making an upset and they can beat the Ohio State if they play their best.

In the opening game against William & Mary, Michael Brewer threw for 251 yards with two touchdown passes for the win. Brewer completed 23 of 30 passes to lead his team into a breakaway.

Virginia Tech has to manage the game by calling more of the running offense through Shai McKenzie who had 106 yards in his first game. McKenzie has to navigate through the vaunted defense of the Buckeyes. The Hokies had 222 yards on the ground last Saturday and they can keep rushing to subdue the Buckeyes.
