Gilas Pilipinas dominated a Spanish pro selection, 89-58, through the scoring ability of naturalized center Andray Blatche who had 18 points, in a tune-up game Mondy in Vitoria, Spain.
Blatche started it with power as he scored 15 points in the first half to give Gilas a 50-31 lead over the Spanish team, composed of professional players in Spain Liga ACB.
The Philippine National Basketball Team converted 13-of-26 outside the three-point arc to control the entire game. Paul Lee had 10 points and LA Tenorio added seven to compliment each other at the guard position. Moreover, Jared Dillinger scored nine points and Gabe Norwood had six points.
Gilas Pilipinas will travel to France, Australia, and Ukraine for other exhibition games.
“It’s a good way to start our team here,” said Gilas coach Chot Reyes. “I thought we were really sharp moving the ball.”
