The Los Angeles Lakers General Manager Mitch Kupchak announced that the they have signed Fil-Am guard Jordan Clarkson, who was the 46th pick in the 2014 NBA Draft.
Clarkson was acquired by the Lakers in a deal with the Washington Wizards who selected him.
In the 2014 NBA Summer League, Clarkson superbly led the Lakers in scoring by averaging 15.8 points per game. He also averaged five rebounds and 42.1 % percent three-point shooting.
The guard from Missouri was named Second Team All-SEC by the coaches in his year with the Tigers. He played his first two years in Tulsa before playing in Missouri.
Clarkson’s mother Annette has roots in Pampanga, and he had always talked about representing the Philippines in the NBA.
“I think Clarkson has great explosiveness going to the basket, he has a tremendous pull-up jumper, but the thing about Jordan Clarkson is that he’s always in the right place at the right time,” Lakers’ summer-league co-coach Mark Madsen told the Los Angeles Times last month.
