Ginebra takes Game 3

Manila, Philippines – Justin Brownlee scored 31 points to spearhead a 125-101 Ginebra win over TNT in Game 3 of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinals Thursday at Smart Aranet Coliseum.

Brownlee’s also added 11 rebounds, four blocks, three steals in an all-around performance that shattered the Texters even as early as the first half. With the win, the Ginebra Kings were able to extend the series into Game 4.

Ginebra’s Scottie Thompson posted 17 points, five rebounds and four assists while Japeth Aguilar added 15 points, four rebounds and three blocks to help exceedingly. Also in the arsenals of Ginebra were Sol Mercado with 12 points and five assists while Joe Devance had 10 points and five rebounds.

Barangay Ginebra went on to a 22-2 spurt in the second quarter as the TNT Texters couldn’t match the energy of their opponents. Despite of the run of Ginebra, the Texters posted a 12-0 run to trim the deficit to nine.

Barangay Ginebra was persistent as it posted a 32-point lead in the fourth quarter, 125-93, with 1:37 left.

Jayson Castro had seven points and three assists. Castro was checked early in the game that he couldn’t carry his team. Moreover, import Joshua Smith played only for nine minutes after complaining pain on his right foot.
