Now that we are just few weeks away from Pacquiao-Horn fight that will take place in April for sure, but it appears like there is a venue fight already announced.
Manny Pacquiao on Sunday revealed that his April fight against Jeff Horn will take place in the UAE, but Horn’s promoters are still adamant that the venue will remain Australia as planned initially.
Along with Twitter, Pacquiao 38, posted “See you in UAE for my next fight,” across all his social media accounts on Sunday morning. The Filipino fighter-senator also asked his 108,000 Twitter Followers – “Who do you want me to fight next in the UAE? Giving four options – Amir Khan, Jeff Horn, Terence Crawford and Kell Brook.
The information came a day after Pacquiao’s adviser Michael Koncz held a press conference with officials of Al Afaq Tourism on Saturday in Abu Dhabi.
“We did execute an agreement. 100 percent, the fight will happen here (UAE),” Koncz told filipinotimes.ae, adding that Horn remains to be Pacquiao’s likely opponent.
Pacquiao’s Top Rank promoter Bob Arum earlier confirmed that Horn’s promoter, Duco Events, has agreed for a Pacquiao-Horn fight to defend his World Boxing Organization welterweight crown in Horn’s hometown (Brisbane) or any other major city of Australia.
This demolished the earlier claims that the bout would take place in Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium in Australia on 23rd April 2017.
“We have executed the agreement and 100 per cent the fight will be here in the UAE,” Koncz had told Gulf News. “I apologise to the people of Australia and their government there for all the confusion.
“It took us a while to get this deal together, there was a lot of confusion as to whether this was going to happen here in the UAE, but I’m here with full authority and power,” he added.
