Steelers vs Patriots final scores, results and highlights: Chris Hogan’s 180 yards in three quarters

Chris Hogan has 180 yards of receiving in three quarters to lead the Patriots, 33-9, against the Pittsburgh Steelers. With 12 minutes left, the Patriots have the commanding lead.

The New England Patriots host the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Championship Game on Sunday, kick off time at 6:40 PM ET, at Gillette Stadium, Foxboro, Massachusetts.

The Patriots are riding in an eight-game winning streak including a victor against the Houston Texans in the divisional round last week in which Tom Brady threw for 287 yards and two touchdowns against two interceptions. Brady is looking for his seventh Super Bowl appearance and five rings. With all the experience that Brady had and the way the Patriots are built this season, they are the favorites to win the game. In the 12 games that Brady played in the regular season, he completed 67.4 percent of his passes for 3,554 yards and 28 touchdowns against two interceptions. However, Brady already threw two interceptions against the Texans last week.

For New England, LeGarrette Blount will be the working horse on the ground as he posted 1161 and 18 touchdowns in 299 yards. Dion Lewis can also be the determining factor as he can run and catch to the derailment of the opponents’ defense. Julian Edelman will be the main man in the receiving end. Edelman posted 1,106 yards in 96 receptions. Since Rob Gronkowski was out of the roster, Edelman has been the favorite target of Brady. James White, Martellus Bennett and Chris Hogan will always be part of the deadly receivers of Brady. While the Patriots are known for their offense, they are the best in defense this season by giving up 15.6 points per game.

The Steelers are riding in a nine-game winning streak, including an 18-16 win over the Kansas City Chiefs last week in which Ben Roethlisberger completed 20 of 31 passes for 218 yards. Roethlisberger is seeking for his fourth Super Bowl appearance and third super bowl ring. In the regular season, Roethlisberger completed 64.4 percent of his passes for 3,819 yards and 29 touchdowns against 13 interceptions.

For the Steelers, the most powerful player right now is Le’Veon Bell who already ammassed 337 yards and two touchdowns in the last two playoff games. The Steelers victory will likely be dependent of Bell and Roetlisberger as well as wide receiver Antonio Brown who has posted 232 yards and two touchdowns in the playoffs. In the playoff games against Miami and Kansas City, the Steelers yielded and average of 14.0 points in defense. Thus, the Steelers’ defense have peak to trample down the offense of Brady. Furthermore, Steelers’ pass rush defense has been effective. If the Steelers would be able to contain Brady, they have a chance to win.
