The Oakland Raiders take on the Houston Texans in one of the wild card games on Saturday, start time at 4:35 PM ET, at NRG Stadium, Houston, Texas.
The Oakland Raiders (12-4) failed to capture a playoff bye after losing to the Denver Broncos, 24-6, last Sunday. Oakland’s problem would be on the quarterback position which Derek Carr was already ruled out as well as Matt McGloin who left the game with a sore left shoulder in the second quarter. McGloin was never brought back in the action. Connor Cook was called to replace the injured quarterback. Cook completed 14 of 21 passes for 150 yards and a touchdown against an interception against the suffocating defense of Denver. On the ground, DeAndre Washington rushed for 43 yards in seven carries while Latavius Murray added 11 yards in five carries. In the receiving end, Michael Crabtree posted 47 yards in five receptions while Amari Cooper added 39 yards in four catches. Seth Roberts had 26 yards in three receptions.
Offensively, the Raiders are averaging 26.0 points and 373.3 total yards (253.2 in passing and 120.1 in rushing) per game. Defensively, the Raiders are yielding 24.1 points and 375.1 total yards (257.5 in passing and 117.6 in rushing) per game.
The Houston Texans (9-7) are coming from a 24-17 loss to the Tennessee Titans last week. Brock Osweiler completed 21 of 40 passes for 253 yards and a touchdown. Osweiler entered as a replacement for Tom Savage who is expected to start in this game. In the receiving end, DeAndre Hopkins posted 123 yards in seven receptions while Wendall Williams added 41 yards in two catches. Grimes added 33 yards in four receptions.
