Las Vegas Bowl introduces Houston Cougars vs. San Diego State Aztecs on their first College Football bowl game starting at 3.30 P.M. on 17th December 2016 at one of the biggest location Sam Boyd Stadium, Whitney, Nevada.

Players to watch for in Houston Cougars

The Houston Cougars enters the season 2016 at 9-3 overall, without Tom Herman, still added a massive 33-23 victory over the Oklahoma Sooners. Linell Bonner (8.5 receiving/g, 97.8 yards/g, 3 TD), Chance Allen (4.7 receiving/g, 67.9 yards/g, 6 TD), Steven Dunbar (4.3 receiving/g, 55.8 yards/g, 5 TD), and Duke Catalon (5.0 receiving/g, 34.0 yards/g, 3 TD) have been the leading receivers for the Cougars. On the defensive part, Houston is letting their rival to score 22.6 PPG on 325.0 overall yards per game (2227.1 passing, 97.9 rushing) on an average. The team finished the season with a total margin of -3.

Players to watch for in San Diego State Aztecs

The San Diego State Aztecs completed the regular season with 10-3 record and ranked as high as 19th prior to the season. While, the Aztecs were able to win the Mountain West Championship at 27-24 win over Wyoming Cowboys, there was a loss came their way against South Alabama on 1st of October. The team looked unstoppable in most of the games with power rushing attacks and great defense. The team was also predicted as the potential New Year’s Six Bowl as the top Group of Five School with Straight Six wins, but Aztech tasted another loss during regular season against Wyoming and Colorado State. The team was led RB Donnel Pumphrey who added 16 rushing TD’s on the season while averaging 155.2 rushing yards per game. Backfield was mostly handled by Rashaad Penny (9.7 attempt/g, 76.5 yards/g, 11 TD) and Juwan Washington (4.0 att/g, 33.3 yds/g, 5 TD). QB Christian Chapman finished at 60.3% of his passes for 19 TD and 6 INT while averaging 143.5 yds/g.

Prediction For Las Vegas Bowl

Both teams, Houston and San Diego State are at similar state at present with great rushing defences and having impressive players on the offense side. On the other hand, both teams struggled towards the end of the season as teams started to expose both defenses through the air. Still, Houston has greater chances to win if Greg Ward Jr. remain in action when the game kickoff.
