James White scored 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to help Mahindra in beating the TNT KaTropa 107-104 on Friday in the PBA Governors Cup at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The Enforcers were sharp at final 30 seconds by hitting 6 of eight free throws as TNT tried to extend the game. Paolo Taha scored 15 points while KG Canaleta had 13. LA Revilla contributed 12 points while Mike DiGregorio added 11 points. Mahindra received contributions from Bradwyn Guinto who had nine points and eight rebounds to solidify the scoring.
TNT didn’t easily lost the game as the team was led by star point guard Jayson Castro with 33 points, and drilling in the last 10 point of the team. Castro’s speed continually strengthen Katropa to stay in the game.
On the other hand, Mychal Ammons had 20 points and 15 rebounds while Larry Fonacier added 13 points. Troy Rosario delivered 11 points as one of the starters.
“Nerve-wracking game. I told them before this game that it would take nothing less than a championship effort for us to win today,” said Mahindra coach Chris Gavina.
TNT captured the lead briefly through Troy Rosario’s two points, 72-71, but the Enforcers scored seven points in a row through Chito Jaime’s three-pointer while DiGregorio and Canaleta made their free throws to have a 78-72 lead at the end of the third quarter.
TNT dropped to 6-1 but remains on top of the standings while Mahindra rises to 6-2.
