The United States men’s basketball team is expected to grab another gold medal in the 2016 Rio Olympics. The high expectation intertwined with the 12-man roster it will be sending to play.
While there’s no team that can beat the current roster when it comes to individual talents and athleticism, upset happens. The US basketball team has everything it needs to win gold.
Kevin Durant and Carmelo Anthony are the two leftovers from the roster in 2012 Olympics. Chris Paul, Kevin Love, LeBron James and Kobe Bryant are absolutely out of this Olympics’ roster, though many have tried to convince Bryant to play but the Lakers superstar decided retire.
Despite of those big names not playing, the USA basketball team has youth and energy to dominate the competition. Three players from the Golden State Warriors namely Draymond Green, Klay Thompson and Durant will lead the core of the 12-man lineup. Harrison Barnes, Jimmy Butler, Paul George, DeMar De Rozan, Kyrie Irving, Kyle Lowry, DeMarcus Cousins and DeAndre Jordan will fill the rest of the team.
The Americans are in Group A with Australia, China, France, Serbia and Venezuela. The resurgence of France with Tony Parker and some NBA players will make the Americans play better.
