Will there be a blockbuster trade involving Russell Westbrook and Kyrie Irving?
The Cleveland Cavaliers are looking for a back-to-back title through the leadership of LeBron James and with almost the same roster that they had in winning the title a month ago. Though the Cavs are the favorites in the Eastern Conference, they may not be as the Golden State Warriors acquired the most coveted player in the free agency, Kevin Durant.
In order to keep up with the Warriors, it is rumored that the Cavs are reportedly one of the eight teams aiming to get Oklahoma City Thunder Russell Westbrook.
According to Matt Moore of CBSSports, it would take a trade with the Thunder to acquire Westbrook. In the trade, it should involve Kyrie Irving.
“Now, you’re the Cavaliers. You love Kyrie Irving, he hit the winning shot for the title and is a phenomenal, building-block player. But is he better than Westbrook? Probably not. You’d at least have to pick up the phone if you’re David Griffin, even if it is ultimately too much of a gamble and his game doesn’t mesh well enough with LeBron’s.”
For the Thunder to have something by not losing Westbrook in the free agency next year, they have to make a trade now. Thus, Westbrook is being eyed by Cavaliers as well as other teams.
Irving averaged 19.6 points, 3.0 rebounds and 4.7 assists last season. Russell Westbrok averaged 23.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 10.4 assist. Will there be a gigantic Irving-Westbrook trade in the coming days or months?
