Andy Murray overpowered Milos Raonic in straight sets 6-4, 7-6(3), 7-6(2) to capture his second Wimbledon title on Sunday at Centre Court.
Andy Murray will play Milos Raonic in the Wimbledon Finals on Sunday, July 10 start time at 9:00 AM ET, at Centre Court.
Raonic battled through his way into the final by outlasting Roger Federer in five sets in the semifinals while Murray overpowered Tomas Berdych to reach his third Wimbledon Final and 11th Grand Slam Final.
Murray owned Raonic in head-to-head with 6-3 advantage. Murray defeated the Canadian in five in a row and three times this year alone. Surely, Murray is the favorite going into Sunday’s gigantic battle.
“Milos is a very tough opponent. He’s played very well on the grass this year and has earned his right to the final by beating one of the best, if not the best player, ever at this event.”
On the other hand, Raonic knows that he can beat the Scot. The last win of Raonic over Murray happend in 2014 at Indian Wells. While both players are at their peak, Raonic can pull off an upset if he plays better.
Fresh from his strong performance coming from down 2-1 sets to win over Federer, Raonic is seeking to dismantle the No. 2 player in the world. Murray would be happy to be here as he meets a new face in a Grand Slam final aside from Djokovic and Federer. Murray had recently overwhelmed Raonic on the grass courts of London, winning three sets. Murray also defeated Raonic in the Australian Open this years in five sets, 4-6, 7-5, 6-7 (4), 6-4, 6-2.
