The San Jose Sharks play the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals on Monday, start time at 8:00 PM ET, at SAP Center at San Jose.
The Sharks are coming from a 3-2 OT win in Game 3 to cut the series deficit to 2-1 against the Penguins. Joonas Donskoi delivered the winning OT goal with 12:10 into overtime to the elation of the entire San Jose crowd. It’s been a grueling battle so far as both teams are seeking for an advantage in Game 4. Even Sharks center Logan Couture admitted that both teams have stepped up to score.
”You look through these playoffs and third-line, fourth-line guys have stepped up for both teams and scored big goals,”Couture said Sunday. ”It’s not necessarily that the big guns have scored the huge goals for both teams. You need that when you get to this point.”
In the postseason, Couture leads in points with 26 and in assists with 18. Joe Pavelski tops in goals with 13 while Tommy Wingels leads in penalty minutes with 21. Martin Jones yields 2.13 goals per game.
The Penguins are hoping to find the separation in tonight’s Stanley Cup game. Superstar Sidney Crosby mentioned about concentrating on doing his job for his team.
”You just try to worry about yourself and make sure you’re doing your job and as a team you’re doing the things necessary to give yourself a chance to win games,” Crosby said. ”It’s tight. Like I keep seeing year after year, there’s a small margin of error. Just make sure you’re competing and give yourself a chance to create and ultimately produce.”
In the postseason, Phil Kessel leads in points with 19 and in goals with 10. Nick Bonino tops in assists while Kris Letang tops in penalty minutes. Matt Murray yields 2.15 goals per game.
