New England Patriots Rumors and News: Rob Gronkowski to play on Sunday?

The New England Patriots are riding in a two game losing streak, and it could continue as they face the Houston Texans this week with a line-up without Rob Gronkowski.

No matter how great a quarterback Tom Brady is, he needs the entire force of his wide receiver to win games. Clearly, the Patriots defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles last week opened the eyes of the NFL world that Brady must have his wide receivers back into the roster.

While Brady had Danny Amendola, it wasn’t enough to run their high-octane offense as it was becoming predictable.

The good news is that Gronkowski is back at practice, and that he has a brace on his knee, according to NFL’s Kevin Patra. The tight-end could be back on Sunday, just in time for the Patriots to avoid a slide in the AFC standings. Currently, the Patriots are in the number 3 position behind the Cincinnati Bengals and Denver Broncos.

Gronkowski is the key to the offense of the Patriots. The Pats utilized Gronkowski and Scott Chandler in a tight-end packages in Week 12. New England cannot afford to lose another game. The last time they lose three games in a row was in 2002.

The next three games will determine the seedings for the upcoming NFL Playoff, and the New England Patriots must possessed the home field advantage to be in the Super Bowl.
