NFL Dallas Cowboys Rumors and News: ex-New England Patriots QB Matt Cassel listed as “active”, Brandon Weeden will not start?

The Dallas Cowboys badly need to win after dropping two-consecutive games without Tony Romo. While Brandon Weeden’s numbers were not the worst, the leadership might be the problem.

The Cowboys will not take long enough to use newly-acquired Matt Cassel to take the quarterback position. Though he will not start, he told reporters that he will be active this week for the Cowboys as they host the New England Patriots.

Everybody knows that Cassel honed his skills with the New England Patriots, playing backup to Tom Brady. Cassel won 11 games with the Patriots when Brady got injured. Because of his success, Cassel was offered by the Kansas City Chiefs as a starter.

The Cowboys acquired Cassel from the Bills right after Tony Romo was placed on injured reserve with a fractured collarbone. Cassel will likely be the No. 2 quarterback for the Cowboys this coming Sunday against his former team. He will get the nod if Weeden will struggle agains the defense of the Patriots.

Weeden has lost his last 10 NFL starts. The 31-year-old quarterback has completed 73.1 percent of his passes for a 99.7 passer rating, but hasn’t consistently moved the offense, and couldn’t get the Cowboys going.

Will Cassel play against the Patriots defense?
