NFL Rumors: Philadelphia Eagles released quarterback Tim Tebow still managed to express thanks despite the negative feedback from Chip Kelly

Tim Tebow was released but was grateful his stint with the Eagles. Philadelphia Eagles coach Chip Kelly has decided to cut Tim Tebow despite his improvements as a quarterback.

Chip Kelly said Tebow wasn’t good enough to be the team’s No. 3 quarterback. This is the third time that Tebow has been cut by an NFL team.

Tebow was one of 22 players released by the Eagles in the same day, who also cut veteran offensive lineman John Moffitt and rookie running back Raheem Mostert.

With the move, the NFL fans are asking who would end up as the third string quarterback after the Eagles also traded Matt Barkley to the Arizona Cardinals on Friday.

“[Tebow] really improved his throwing motion from when he was throwing a couple of years ago,” Kelly said. “He worked extremely hard on it and deserves a lot of credit for that. I talked to him a little earlier [Saturday] when we released him.

“He just needs to get more playing time. Get out there and get actual reps. Because he has done a ton on his own from an individual basis, but it is about taking that next step and playing the game.”

Meanwhile, Tebow responded with gratitude to the Eagles and coach Kelly through his Twitter account.

Before the preseason starts, the starting quarterback position was being competed by Tebow, Barkley, Mark Sanchez and Sam Bradford. In a surprising move, Kelly will go on without one of the most popular NFL players.
