Green Bay Packers Rumors and News: QB Aaron Rodgers says he will retire…?

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers doesn’t want to play long like Tom Brady beyond his forties. Brady’s email disclosed that he planned to play seven to eight more years.

Rodgers says that he would have eight more years to play in the NFL. The 31-year-old Packers quarterback intends retire before he hits 40, according to Peter King.

In computing the years Rodgers predicted to play for, he’d retire after the 2022 season at age 39. Thus, Rodgers would be finishing long enough to cover three decades of quarterbacking with Brett Favre. Favre and Rodgers were the only two quarterbacks that the Packers used in that span of time. Only in 1991 when the Packers starter were Mike Tomczak and Don Majkowski split the season snaps.

Rodgers is a talented quarterback. Having won a super bowl, it shows that he can last longer in the position. His ability to make quick decision when the ball is on play is one of the components of the Packers offense that is called packaged play. He can quickly make the right decision whether to hand the ball or to throw the ball.

Rodgers completed 341 of his 520 passes, 38 touchdowns against only five interceptions in 2014 season. Because of these numbers, Aaron Rodgers was named the 2014 NFL MVP on Saturday night at the 4th annual NFL Honors award show.
