NFL Preaseason Titans vs Falcons 2015 Coverage: Marcus Mariota the right fit for Tennessee?

Titans vs Falcons The Tennessee Titans take on the Atlanta Falcons in one of the NFL Preseason Games on Friday, August 14 at 7:00 PM ET at Georgia Dome.

The Tennessee Titans hope that their current roster would provide a bright season. With quarterback Marcus Mariota anchoring the offense, the Titans could possibly be in the playoffs if he plays the way he delivered in Oregon. However, it would take some time for the rookie quarterback to learn the playbook. In the offense, the inclusion of rookie running back David Cobb and wide receiver Dorial Green Beckham produces uncertainties. Charlie Whitehurst and Zach Mettenberger will compete for the backup quarterback. Mettenberger started for the Titans last season.

Defensively, the Titans have to improve with the addition of Perrish Cox and Brian Orakpo. In tonight’s game, Deontrez Mount and Jonathan Massaquoi are the two defensive players to watch. If the defense of the Titans would eventually be better, then they will have a chance to be in the playoffs.

The Atlanta Falcons desire to have playoff season after combining for only 10 wins in the past two years. There’s no reason at all for the Falcons not to enter into the playoffs under a weak division. Quarterback Matt Ryan should be able to find his groove throughout the season with his primary targets Roddy White and Julio Jones. Runningbacks Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman are expected to be back from injuries. T.J. Yates and Sean Renfree will be competing for a spot in the quarterback position, thus, they will have time to show what they got.

Defensively, the Falcons are the worst in defense by allowing the most yards per game. Atlanta yields 279.9 yards in passing and 118.4 in rushing. It is necessary for the Falcons to elevate the level of their involvement in defense. Rookie Vic Beasley and Robert Alford are two players to watch in tonight’s preseason game.
