New York Jets vs Detroit Lions NFL Preseason Info: TV Schedule, Ryan Fitzpatrick starts

The Detroit Lions take on the New York Jets in one of the NFL Preseason games on Thursday, kick off time at 7:30 PM ET at Ford Field.

The New York Jets suffered a quarterback blow when starter Geno Smith was to declared to be out 6-10 weeks after being punched by a teammate. This paved the way for backup Ryan Fitzpatrick to be the starter of the regular season unless the Jets would make a move in acquiring other quarterbacks.

This is a new era for the Jets with a new coach Todd Bowles after Rex Ryan departed for the Buffalo Bills. Bowles problem evolves to be on the offense without a reliable quarterback. In connection with this, the addition of receiver Brandon Marshall would be encouraging for the Jets. Because the preseason is about finding other players to fit in, wide receiver Devin Smith, defensive end Leonard Smith and rookie Bryce Petty will be given the time to play their best.

On the other hand, the Detroit Lions are in a great shape to get back into the playoffs back-to-back since the the 90’s. With the duo of quarterback Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson, the Lions will have another playoff year. Though Caldwell will not take the risk to put both players on the field on tonight’s game, they are expected to play for the first series. Kellen Moore and Dan Orlovsky will take most of the snaps against the defense of the Jets.
