Dallas Cowboys News and Rumors: Team releases running back Lache Seastrunk, Darren McFadden to start?

The Dallas Cowboys aim to cut the current roster into 53-man. On Thursday, the Cowboys waived Lache Seastrunk, just two months after adding to the roster.

Seastrunk was drafted by the Redskins in 2014. According to Todd Archer, Seastrunk frustrated coaches with his inability to stick with that play that’s called. He freelances way too much and can turn a 2-yard gain into a 5-yards loss.

Seastrunk chance with the Cowboys to have playing time is slim. The running back is behind Darren McFadden, Joseph Randle and Lance Dunbar. Seastrunk rushed for 16 yards on five totes in last week’s preseason defeat to the Chargers. He didn’t even see the field until deep backup Gus Johnson went down with a shoulder injury.

By dropping Seastrunk, the Cowboys will try to hone McFadden, Randle and Dunbar. The Cowboys allowed DeMarco Murray, now with the Eagles, to walk away, and they are looking for somebody who will help Tom Romo in easing the load. Surely, the Cowboys will again be successful, especially on the road, with a strong and powerful running back. The Cowboys understand that they don’t need Seastrunk to carry them in the regular season. Dallas has enough in that position.
